Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a chronic mental health condition characterized by a cycle of involuntary, distressing thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions).
Unlike everyday worries, OCD creates intense anxiety that drives a person to perform rigid, time-consuming rituals to find temporary relief. These patterns can significantly disrupt daily routines, work, and relationships.
Anxiety
At its core, anxiety is a biological "alarm system" designed to protect us from danger. However, when this system becomes overactive, it triggers prolonged states of tension. Unlike fear—which is a reaction to an immediate danger—anxiety is typically focused on future, anticipated threats or unknown outcomes. The types of anxiety I treat are generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks/disorder, specific phobias, and illness/health anxiety.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a condition characterized by an obsessive preoccupation with perceived flaws in one's physical appearance that are unnoticeable or minor to others. This intense focus leads to severe distress, social anxiety, and repetitive, time-consuming behaviors aimed at hiding or fixing the perceived defect.
